Mr. Sagone has significant professional experience with respect to mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, capital raisings, restructurings, joint ventures, and strategic alliances. Prior to founding Cross Court Capital, Mr. Sagone worked as an Investment Director in the principal investment team of PM & Partners Private Equity, Italy’s largest Independent mid-market private equity operator with over €550 million committed in 2 funds. Here he focused on originating, assessing, and executing direct equity investments in the Italian mid-market through buyout transactions and expansion capital, across a number of sectors/geographies/sizes. Mr. Sagone served as a board member of Emmeti S.p.A. (an energy efficient heating and cooling business) and Plastiape S.p.A. (a medical devices and pharmaceutical packaging business) and was involved with several of the firm’s other direct investments (mainly Relevi, La Patria, and Monviso).
Mr. Sagone’s prior experience includes positions at Lazard & Co., in their Italian Mergers & Acquisitions practice, Credit Suisse First Boston and Donaldson Lufkin & Jenrette in London in their Telecoms and Media teams, and Arthur Andersen in their global Corporate Finance Practice in Italy. He acted in advisory roles to a substantial number of institutional, corporate and family organizations, on transactions in Europe, North America, and Latin America.
Mr. Sagone is a Visiting Professor of Corporate Finance & Valuation at the University of Rome III “F.Caffè” and an expert in valuation practice of corporates, single assets (brands, licenses, concessions), real options, and illiquid assets (real-estate, solar and wind parks, NPLs etc.).
Born in Italy, raised and educated in the United States and the UK, Mr. Sagone’s mother-tongues are English & Italian and he also speaks French and Spanish. He received a B.A. (cum laude) in Business Administration and Economics from the University of Rome “La Sapienza” in 1995 and an M.Sc. in Financial Economics from the London Business School in 2000. Mrs. Gabriella Campi has significant professional experience with respect to the IT, Telecoms, Media, and Financial Institutions industries, mainly developed in senior positions at Microsoft, Oracle, UBmatrix (now Edgar Online), ANSA and Reuters. In many years, Mrs. Campi has achieved a solid background in strategic finance, M&A, commercial and strategic partnerships, in addition to business development.
Mrs. Campi joined Cross Court Capital in 2017, as a Senior Advisor, leveraging on her extensive sales and business development experience gathered most recently at Thomson Reuters, as Head of Italy and Malta Media Sales and BD, in addition to her prior position as the Director of International Markets Development and Marketing at ANSA (the main Italian news agency), where she was responsible for business development, sales and marketing globally. At UBmatrix she covered the role of Managing Director of EMEA, with responsibilities for the European office startup and development. Other prior positions held were Director of Marketing & Business Development of SEMEA (UK) at Macrovision Corp. and Director of Business Partners and Global Alliance at Getronics Europe. Earlier in her career, while in Oracle Corp., she covered the role of Director of Industry Services EMEA (based in Geneva, Switzerland), where she successfully launched the pan-European campaigns “Connected Citizens” and “Digital Cities”. While at her post in Oracle she spent 2 years in San Francisco, USA, at the Oracle HQs taking part in the “Reinventing Government” program development, launched by the Clinton administration. Initially in her career, Mrs. Campi gained experience and International exposure at Microsoft where she contributed to the successful start- up of Microsoft in Italy as a Branch Officer for the Center-South, developing the organization, marketing the adaption of Windows in the Public Sector, launching the magazine “Microsoft Public Sector”.
Born in Italy, Mrs. Campi received a B.A. (cum laude) in Computer Science from the University of Salerno and an ADP in General Management from the London Business School in 2003. She started her career at the IBM research center, publishing her work “Automatic correction of spelling errors“ and in 2010 was appointed advisor for the project “Italy of Innovators” by the Chief of the Italian Expo Delegation in China, selecting the most innovative companies to represent Italy at the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai.
Mrs. Viviana Ascani has a long-standing and solid professional experience in Finance. Recently a Chief Financial Officer in a prominent banking institution, Mrs. Ascani joins Cross Court Capital in the spring of 2023 as a Senior Advisor. Her appointment follows a long list of milestones in a career in the world of Finance. Her prior appointments include CFO of Banca Credito Fondiario (now Banca CF+), Executive Director – Finance at Banca Dexia Crediop, Executive Director at Banca Sanpaolo Invest, Accounts auditor at PriceWaterhouseCoopers, in addition to a number of professional appointments to Board of Directors and public committees.
Mrs. Ascani has solid experience in developing business plans, budgets and financial KPIs, as well as capital planning analysis and investment evaluation. Among her expertises are those in acquisitions, mergers, demergers, project financing, debt restructuring, securitization, NPL/UTP portfolio management, and bond issues. Moreover, Mrs. Ascani holds an in-depth knowledge of Italian and international accounting standards, banking supervision and tax legislation, as well as the drafting of corporate and group financial statements. She contributes to Cross Court Capital her long-standing experience in M&A and her in-depth knowledge of the Italian financial market, thereby including her experience from having taken part in a significant number of banking and financing transactions.
At a senior level, Mrs Ascani will leverage on her roles as a director in banking institutions and her extensive experience in the management of relations with supervisory bodies (Bank of Italy, Board of Statutory Auditors, auditing firms, Tax Revenue Agency), rating agencies and financial analysts.
Born and raised in Italy, Mrs. Ascani holds a Master of Science in Finance with Merit from the Bayes Business School – City, University of London (UK), a Degree in Economics and Business Administration summa cum laude from La Sapienza University of Rome (Italy), and a Degree in Law from the University of Camerino (Italy). She is a qualified Chartered Accountant, qualified to practice as a Lawyer, and a Certified Public Auditor. She is proficient in English, has passable knowledge of French, and has a strong ability to work in international contexts acquired by working abroad and in multinational banking groups. Mrs. Ascani is married with one child.
